SAN ANTONIO -- Two people were shot in separate incidents at nearly the same time on the East Side Friday night.
Police say a man was shot in the leg at a convenience store at 1303 Wheatley Ave. at about 7:30 p.m., and his injury was considered non-life threatening. Investigators believe a black Ford Taurus may be connected to the incident.
At about the same time, a woman was shot in the upper thigh in the 4400 block of North Hein. Neighbors said it sounded like someone fired about 10 shots from a semi-automatic gun in an apparent drive-by shooting. An officer spotted a blue car leaving the area and attempted to stop it, but the driver did not stop for several blocks. The four men got out of the car and started running on Ferris Ave. near Beulah. Police apprehended the men and recovered weapons that may be connected to the Hein Rd. shooting. The woman shot on Hein Rd. also had non-life threatening injuries, according to police.
