San Antonio -- Two San Antonio businesses under investigation by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission are at risk of being shut down after three recent shootings. One of those businesses is a restaurant and one is a nightclub.
The bar, Club Antro, is found in the medical district. Since 2005, Club Antro has been cited 17 times by TABC. Police have been called out there 892 times.
Hanh Mai owns a nail salon just a few doors down from Club Antro. Last Thursday she drove up to find her business had been shot up.
"There's just a lot of stuff going on around here. So it's kind of scary to hear something like that would happen around here," Hanh Mai’s daughter, Lynn Duong, told us.
Most business owners in this strip center off Medical Drive and Fredericksburg said the club has been a problem for years. But just recently things have escalated to a more violent level.
In late February, investigators say a fight that started at Club Antro ended at a nearby gas station. One man was shot and killed after that incident. Then, last week, another shooting sent three people to the hospital.
News 4 WOAI tried to speak with managers at Club Antro today; but no one returned our calls. So, we took these concerns to the TABC
Lt. Craig Smith, spokesperson for TABC, said "Any time there's a breach of the peace, and especially if it involves serious bodily injury or death, we look into those circumstances."
Turns out, Club Antro has been on the state's radar for a while. They've been cited before for selling alcohol to a minor, catching employees drinking on the job, and failing to report violent incidents there.
"If the location did something to further the acts of violence or didn't do something, they could have done to prevent it - Then we take action against their permits," Smith explained.
Police tell us they have a special unit assigned to watch over this bar and they're having officers drive by here more often during busy times. We're told TABC investigators are trying to find out if the club did enough to prevent these shootings. If they didn't - they could be shut down.
The second business under investigation is Chachos and Chalucci's on Perrin Beitel and Loop 410. Earlier this week two men were shot at the restaurant after getting into an argument.
A manager for the restaurant tells us they're working with the state on this investigation.
They've already started to make some security changes. They will have a security officer patrolling their property all night long. And they'll also be keeping a better eye on some of the back exits.
