SAN ANTONIO - DNA testing firms are seeing a new trend in their clients.
What initially began as a service for women to prove the paternity of their children for child support purposes, has turned into a booming business for people worried about cheating partners.
A DNA testing firm in Florida says most of the clients they see come in to find out if their partners are cheating.
Surprisingly, the bulk of their clients are male.
"Unbelievably, we have more men coming in to see if their wives or girlfriends or fiancées are cheating on them," said Raquel Mandel, who opened a DNA testing business seven years ago.
Mandel said she's seen a shift in clients over the years.
In the beginning, Mandel said most of her clients were children trying to track down their birth parents.
Now more and more men are showing up with personal items to test for DNA.
