EAGLE, Colo. (AP) -- The family of a 13-year-old Texas girl who died after hitting a tree while skiing at a Colorado resort have donated her organs.
The family of Taylor Storch said Wednesday that her heart saved a 39-year-old Arizona woman and that her liver was given to a 1-year-old child. Storch's kidneys and pancreas were also donated.
Authorities say Storch fell backward and hit a tree while skiing at Beaver Creek Sunday afternoon. She was declared brain-dead the next day.
Storch, of Coppell, Texas, was on vacation with her family.
Storch's uncle, Terry Storch, says her family made the decision to donate her organs because they "knew she'd want to continue to give life in her absence."
