SAN ANTONIO – The Texas Longhorns suspended two football players Friday and sent them home on the eve of the Alamo Bowl, hours after police said they were investigating a report of a sexual assault at a San Antonio hotel.

In a press conference early Friday afternoon, Texas Longhorns coach Mack Brown confirmed that that two of his players broke team rules and have been suspended from the team.

Police were called at 2:49 am Friday to a Downtown hotel on the Riverwalk to investigate allegations of a sexual assault. The police report states that the woman claims she was sexually assaulted by one person as another watched.

An SAPD source is confirming that the two men named in the police report are two high-profile UT football players.

Sgt. Javier Salazar, a police spokesman, said only that detectives are in the early stages of investigating the case. A heavily-redacted police report says a 21-year-old woman told police she had several drinks and believed she was assaulted around 2 a.m. Friday after inviting two men, identified only as students, to her hotel room.

The incident happened here in San Antonio as the University of Texas football team is in town to face the Oregon State Beavers in the Alamo Bowl Saturday at 5:45pm.

No arrests have been made and no charges have been filed.

WHY were these players suspended? Have they been convicted of a crime? Seems like someone is jumping the gun.....From what I've read & heard on Radio & TV, this may well be a phony charge and setup of the Texas Football Players...

Seems to me it was a setup. And how does the AP get the names of the players if the University did not release their names. Seems like some officers or hotel employees broke policy!

these ball players need to purchase a digital voice recorder and turn in on the moment they walk into the hotel room and do NOT turn it off until they leave the lobby of the hotel by saying good by to the person at the customer service desk, this way it removes ALL DOUBT and supplies proof of what ACTUALLY occurred in the room.

And the Indian woman who was gang-raped died of injuries in addition to being beating and thrown off the bus. Does that make San Antonio safer from sexual assault than India?

Great, anther drunk skank has a "What have I done" moment and goes the rape route. She went there on her own free will and could have left at any time.

Many people here are just plain sick. No is no. If a girl takes a Guy to her room then changes her mind about sex. That is her right. Remember rape is forcing yourself on someone. This is the problem with athletes they think they r entitled to everything.
