SAN ANTONIO -- One person was killed and another injured in a shooting in a Far West Side neighborhood Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency crews were first called to the 9800 block of Alexa Place around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. Police say a fight broke out and shots were fired. When officers arrived, they found a 17-year-old who had been shot. He died at the scene.

About ten minutes later, emergency crews received another call about an incident 2 miles away at Westover Hills Boulevard and Rogers Road. Police said three males inside an SUV at the location had called for help. One of them had been shot and was seriously wounded. He was taken to Santa Rosa Westover Hills Hospital.

Police say a 21-year-old man has been taken into custody. They are still trying to determine why the fight broke out.

This is why I live in Selma , we have cops who know their job and don't fool around , they drive in our subdivision all day long checking that everything is okay and the neighbors are always watching out for each other , our cops are the best in Texas in my opinion. Great job ,my hats off to all of Selma's police officers.

@pandalvr1970 they call it the new west side. I use to live there 5 years ago. Even then I felt the neighborhood was going down. Good thing I moved.

jimmy24 - do you live in the neighborhood?? There is crime, there is graffiti, cars getting vandalized, houses being robbed. Do you not see the "CSK" graffiti around the neighborhood and surrounding area. It is a shame that a young man had to die. Suspect is a known dealer cops called to the house over 35 times in the past year.

And if it's over a girl why fight? There is more than one girl in the city of San Antonio!

We have lived in this neighborhood for a few years now and have noticed how it has progressively gotten worst. While walking our dog, we have seen drug deals, punks drinking and fighting, and tons of broken beer and hard liquor bottles everywhere. I have been telling my wife that it's time to move. The sad loss of this poor child has made her realize that it's time to sell and move.

The police are called out to that same residence way too often! The shooter is nothing but trouble! He hangs around with other punks up to no good in the neighborhood and they have been caught breaking into vehicles and homes in the neighborhood and every time, they get away with it! I hope this time he doesn't get away with it because matters are only going to get worse!

I was there as the young boy died in my arms. The two have had bad blood like someone mentioned, because of a young teenage girl, little sister of the boy shot, dating the shooter. This is a peaceful neighborhood just off Westover Hills. No graffiti, gang trouble, or drug trafficking. The only time the police have had to come into our neighborhood, besides simple calls, is for things this one kid has done. It wasn't about drugs or gangs, it was about a young teen age girl dating a 21 yr old boy. We are considered the greater northwest or far Westside. The kids went to school at Warren high school. Very sad and tragic thing to be a part of, my prayers go out to both mothers.

I had not heard of drugs and or bad blood as the kids did their level best to keep it from gnups, but Alexia Place is not too far from stops on my bus route(s) and the Rogers Road/Westover Hills was a hop-skip-jump from another one of my bus stops
