The San Antonio Spurs' newfound depth with an emerging Tiago Splitter starting next to Tim Duncan and an occasional dose of small ball with Stephen Jackson has forced Bonner to see limited minutes this year at 11.1mpg.
He's been known as a three point specialist in the regular season and his fans have been disappointed at his incredible shooting in past years and having the league shun him on being given the opportunity to participate in the three point contest during All-Star Weekend. With the help of the internet and Twitter, his supporters have taken the campaign to new heights.
The campaign not only features a unique hashtag "#LetBonnerShoot", but Matt's brother, Luke Bonner, is even taking the campaign to television. This is what Luke tweeted on Tuesday.
