DOVER, Ohio (AP) — A sinkhole about the size of four football fields swallowed part of a road in eastern Ohio that will take months to repair.
A state transportation official says he's never seen anything like it.
The collapse happened Wednesday outside the town of Dover when workers were dredging sand and gravel from a pond and got too close to the edge.
Ohio Department of Transportation deputy director Lloyd MacAdam says that the collapse went more than 100 feet in just a few minutes.
Farmers and other drivers who use State Route 516 to go between Dover and New Philadelphia will likely need to find new routes for at least the next several months.
