you're right lady. i agree it's better than most idiots in the god foresaken town treat their animals. it wasn't clear in your first post. so he's not out exposed to all the elements? have you not tried socializing him with your other dogs? have you tried finding him a home where he might be able to be an indoor dog?

Ruger 1--my rescued stray "outside" dog has an indoor/outdoor 6x15' run during the day with water and food. He has an indoor run 6x10' at night with food and water. He is microchipped, current on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, on h/w meds, and knows he's loved. No, it's not YOUR definition of a "perfect" dog's life, but obviously rescue organizations can't guarantee a "perfect" dog's life either--back to the original article...

why should your stray suffer and have to live outside just because he's a stray? why not give him a chance to have a spoiled life inside someone's house? that seems quite unfair and sh*tty. there is risk involved in any pet adoption and hopefully the rescue learned from this. i work with a rescue in austin, and while it's a chance you take, with the right procedures in place you can greatly reduce this risk. there are risks associated with human baby adoptions. there is risk with everything, but you have to make sure you have the right procedures in place.

No where do I see that the soldier and/or his family want the dog back so why include that except to play on peoples' emotions. Paws and Claws adopted out a dog and found out someone wasn't honest with them about what they planned to do with it. That's one of the tragic risks associated with ANY pet adoption. There aren't enough "good"/"qualified" families for all the abandoned pets in the San Antonio area so either rescue groups keep them all or risk some falling through the cracks. Bad situation all around. My hound rescue off the street is safe, loved, fed, and vaccinated, but he doesn't share the house with us like my chosen dogs. Should I have turned him over to a "responsible" rescue organization that would adopt him out?...like this situation?

yep...it's sad. yet i have my own friends telling me that my sharing of SAPA pets who are being surrendered by owners, who will be dying for no reason other than some friggin person thinks it's too hard...they are saying it's too much and are hiding posts. really? so you think it's better to turn a blind eye to reality? to animals dying because it's "too hard to see?" ugh... if we don't share these stories, who will?

Our society has gone insane. This story....so many animal abuse stories....and the poor horse that was dragged behind the pickup!!! And, when they treat animals this way, you know they treat their kids and other humans with just as much lack of care, compassion, concern, or love.
