SAN ANTONIO – First it was cheerleaders, then football coach, so let’s stay with the Friday Night Fever high school theme this week in our Best of SA series.
In Texas, high school football teams may be king, but marching bands are a league of their own! Friday nights just wouldn’t be the same without marching bands. The astonishing pageantry and precision make halftime an event. The tradition rich and teambuilding experience stays with most students for the rest of their lives.
So which band stands out above the rest? We asked for your nominations, and then waded through well over a thousand emails to find the top four…
Claudia Taylor “Lady Bird” Johnson High School

Southwest High School

Ronald Reagan High School
#reagan
East Central High School

With a total just short of a million total votes, the competition was fierce! Students, family, teachers and administrators pitched in via our webpoll on WOAI.com, texts and tweets.
This week's best high school marching band in town is Reagan High School.
“Thank you! Thank you very much!” said Band Director Levi Chavis.
Congratulations Reagan!
