SAN ANTONIO - A 15-year-old is recovering after he was stabbed in the neck early Sunday morning. Police say his mother's boyfriend did it. It happened at a home on the 1300 block of west Travis.
The victim’s mother, Leticia Hernandez said, “All of a sudden I just felt when he hit me and then that's when I saw him get up and stab my son”.
It is an unimaginable ending for Leticia Hernandez as she was celebrating her birthday at home surrounded by family. She said her boyfriend 38-year old Jose Alfredo attacked her son.
“On the back of his neck, it was kind of deep, but he's OK,” explained Leticia, “It was a kitchen knife, but I didn't know he had it, hiding. He had it hiding in his pants”.
According to Leticia, Alfredo was drinking and things got out of hand. That’s when she said Alfredo hit her in the chest and then went after her 15-year old son with a knife.
The Bexar County Sheriff's Office is about a block away so the family went for help.
“This guy left, he ran, and I went to go to the county, all the police officers got there, and I told him I know where he lives,” said Leticia.
Alfredo was picked up nearby at his home. He is charged with aggravated assault for stabbing the 15-year old. There’s no word yet if he will face additional charges for hitting the victim's mother.
As for the victim, his mom said he is in stable condition and is expected to be released from University Hospital Sunday evening.
