The pole dancing is clean and pure...leave it that way. You will tarnish it by making an Olympic competition out of it as has happened with other Olympic competitions.

LukiMe, pole dancing has as much 'stripping' stigma as football has concussion injuries or baseball has steroid use. Oh yeah, that's right..

I want to make it very clear that competitive pole dancers do not take off ANY of their clothes. There are actually rules in place that disqualifies the dancer for any "wardrobe malfunction". Pole dancing is like ballet on a stick... it takes strength, flexibility, endurance, creativity, grace, confidence, and no sense of fear. Competition poles go up 20 feet high, and you not only have to have the strength to get up there (and look graceful doing it).. but once you are up there you need to contort your body around the pole and hang by a limb without the safety of a net. Pole dancing should be an Olympic sport since it is HUGE over seas. Europe, Asia, and South America all have a Pole Dance following. Yet the US is the only one that really seems to put the stigma of "stripping" with it. I really hope that you can open your minds and see Pole Dancing for what it truly is.

I resent the comments of 21Obro, as they seem R for thy seem to be Racist. Furthermore I disagree with the age limit of 16 for the Olympics, since there have been some very highly talented younger performers such as Nadia Comenisci (Spelling?), the famous all Gold Medal gymnast who won at 14 years of age as well as the young Chinese gymnasts who were so excellent, although obviously not of age as the Hungarian-American gym coach of Team USA noted. Why limit if there is talent? They have to practice for years to become good by 16 anyway, so why play the Ingenuous as if they become Suddenly Good?

This IS an Athletic sport as practiced here and not related to stripping. If strippers are Also good at Athletic pole dancing, that is another thing. I have seen videos from China in which even girls compete --an amazing 9 year old for one, since they also participate in gymnastics, but again, there is no stripping, as the Chinese are more reserved. Thumbs up for this Sport, as it certainly seems to deserve respect as a real and valid Athletic field as presented here.

Great job portraying what pole fitness is about! It most definitely is a sport as it requires a lot of strength, flexibility, conditioning, and endurance. Hope to see more media coverage related to it!

This was a phenomenal story on pole fitness!! It requires so much strength, flexibility, endurance and stamina to pull off some of these moves. It's an amazing full body workout! Not only do you get a great workout, but in class you meet so many amazing ladies! Everyone is strong and unique in their own way. We are there to support each other...not tear each other down. I'm so thrilled to see pole shown in a new positive light!! YAY Pole Fitness!!!
