True, TXLinda, if reporters are inserting verbatim language, that explains a lot of "ain't gonna git no help from the goobermint even when I axed them a kajillion times." And direct quotes are verbatim, so I stand corrected.

An FYI for Canaandogsrule: If you're instructed to transcribe something verbatim, that means type it the way it sounds. So if this is verbatim, then if the person said "gonna" it's typed "gonna" (not going to). Transcriptionist 101.

ohhhh, while we're lampooning the writer's obvious lack of any knowledge of the English language, "gonna" is not a word. "Going to" is the correct usage.

What an awesome thing he did. I had a friend die in this manner as a DPS officer just watched it happen. In my book he's a Hero and proves that not all SAPD officers are bad as some tend to ellude. Keep it up Sgt Garcia!!

Thanks, Lucian. Guess I should have finished reading tne entire article, but the first occurrence floored me. :/ Just glad the outcome of this story was a good one! Could have certainly been a whole lot worse. Thank you officer. :)

Wonderful story of bravery, courage and thinking of someone else. Kudos to Sgt. Garcia. And yes, TXLinda, the writers at WOAI have yet to pass English 101.
