Nine-year-old gives birth

SAN ANTONIO - A nine-year-old girl in Mexico has given birth.

Hospital authorities in the state of Jalisco confirmed the girl gave birth to a baby boy less than two weeks ago.

The boy weighed 5.5 pounds.

Doctors said both the mother and child are in good health.

They are in the care of the girl's grandmother, but hospital staff say because of her age, the girl will need to have extensive follow-up visits.

Local media report the alleged father, a 17-year-old, fled the area after the baby was born.

The state's attorney general's office is investigating whether the case should be legally considered child sex abuse or rape.

Some updated info I caught says she's 12 and it was her step dad. How sickening.

This nine year old was not old enough to have her menstrel period!! More less get pregnant!!! Yes the father sholud be incarcerated. Without a dought. Hope he is coming here. We have enough illegals already.

Don't worry, the father is fleeing to where every other world criminal goes these days. The U.S. Hell we'll probably even give him citizenship by the time he's 21.0

You have to understand the culture. The "father" is probably boasting to everyone in town about what a macho guy he is, and this probably isn't his first child. It's Mexico, not America, so he probably won't be prosecuted. Heck, as expected, he's on the run...usual tactic.

This is the only site I've seen it reported that she had a baby boy. I googled and every one of the sites states she had a baby girl. Hmmmm, maybe a failure of the writer of this article to check the facts before reporting it.

mom coulndt keep track of 11 kids, and what are you going to charge a 15 year old with? playing house?? this is crazy, that means little girl had to have had a menstrual cycle at age 8???? what the hell??? only in mexico!!
