SAN ANTONIO -- Have you ever heard of neck knives? They're charms worn on necklaces that turn into weapons.
Neck knives are getting very popular, but a man in Alabama used one of them to kill a police officer.
Video out of Mobile, Alabama shows officers leading the man into a patrol car. Then, the guy grabs for his necklace. The video stops there, but what you don't see is that charm had a hidden knife in it, which the man later used to cut the officer's neck. He was later shot and killed by police after standoff.
The pendants look like regular charms on the outside, but there are hidden blades on the inside. We found one that looks like a child's toy, but there's a blade in there.
But it not just jewelry that concealing weapons. What looks like an ordinary cane for sale in one shop, unscrews to reveal a double-sided knife more than a foot long.
The hidden weapons are cheap, too. The cane is only $17.00, and the charms can go for as little as $5.00.
The concern is if these charms fall into the wrong hands, incidents like the one in Alabama could happen more often.
