A Castle Doctrine (also known as a Castle Law or a Defense of Habitation Law) is an American legal doctrine that designates a person's abode (or, in some states, any place legally occupied, such as a car or place of work) as a place in which the person has certain protections and immunities and may in certain circumstances use force, up to and including deadly force, to defend against an intruder without becoming liable to prosecution.[1] Typically deadly force is considered justified, and a defense of justifiable homicide applicable, in cases "when the actor reasonably fears imminent peril of death or serious bodily harm to himself or another".

I don't care who anyone decides to punch in the face or fight in Texas it does not require or deserve capital retaliation. Someone said 'Only God can judge.' Well, so can Bexar County and the State of Texas whether you like it or not.

so.... had he chosen to simply call 911 or beat the mom's boyfriend for hitting her, surely that would not have been the end. This woman beater may have retaliated killing Mr. Guillen on another occasion and be let off claiming self defense.

He chose to kill run and hide. He should of beat the abuser with his own hands and gave him back a taste of his own medicine but chose to commit murder. If the victim was drunk as they say then this would of been fairly easy. For domestic abuse call 911. Bad choice.

The repeatedly abused Mother would not tell Guillen, the abuser hit her but He knew his mother was being beaten. He heard it...When He asked the The angry drunk abuser, common sense tells me the abuser didn't just shy away...He didn't shoot an innocent person. He shot a drunk intruder that was beating his mother! I say He should not be charged and I would suggest to never defend his Mom again.

This man's mother stated that he shot her boyfriend who was BEATING her. He did not murder the guy - it was justifiable homicide. I hope he will be reunited soon with his son. Sounds like he is the only stable one in that family.
