SAN ANTONIO - A multimillion dollar drug trafficking operation has been destroyed says the Drug Enforcement Agency.

After a three year investigation the DEA with assistance from local and state agencies seized $8 million worth of cocaine, $2 million in cash and $4 million in assets and weapons.

22 suspects were named in the April indictment. 11 of those suspects were caught Tuesday in Atascosa and Bexar Counties.  At least 19 other people were previously arrested in this case.

Agents say the multimillion dollar drug trafficking operation has ties to Mexico. Federal agents say the transporters coming from Mexico would hide cocaine in compartments of vehicles and make stops in San Antonio before heading north.

Nancy Sanford from the DEA said, “Some of the cocaine was offloaded here in San Antonio, but a majority was transported to states further north of Texas.”

Federal agents are still working to track down 11 more suspects. All the defendants face charges, including possession and distribution of cocaine to money laundering. The indictment also seeks a monetary judgment against the defendants in the amount of $2,362,500.

Limdull, the suppliers are worse than the addicts. Having stuff to offer is part of getting new people hooked, especially starting with their own kids/kids friends. A lot of people get hooked as minors around here. I lived in asian countries that have extremely severe penalties for drug crimes, and you don't see much drug problems at all in those countries and you don't have addicts like you see here. South America is creating a huge demand by offerring so much, and Afghanistan is the largest heroin supplier to the world and look at how wonderful that country is to the world. the suppliers are just evil and selfish, more so than addicts who are most likely going to drop dead too early because of heart attacks like we see all the time.

It's about time DEA did something. You hear Customs and Border Protection at the bridges and the U.S. Border Patrol making arrests, seizing huge amounts of dope, seizing bulk cash, and weapons almost everyday. It takes DEA years to make a case and usually the information originated somewhere else from another agency. I know because I'm a former fed.

This is good work but they need to have informers in place to see who's going to fill the void left behind by these guys. Because with that much money being made you KNOW that someone is going to try to step up and fill the demand. It's a never ending war while we have all of these coke heads wanting their fix.
