SAN ANTONIO -- A 41-year-old Austin man died Saturday night after San Antonio police say he lost control of his motorcycle as he was taking the ramp for Interstate 10 West.

Officer Matthew Porter, San Antonio Police Department spokesman, said Mark Anthony Molina was pronounced dead on the scene of the accident around 10 p.m. Saturday. Porter said Molina was traveling southbound on the upper level of Interstate 35 and was taking the ramp when he lost control of his motorcycle and struck the railing support bracket on the concrete jersey wall with his helmet.

Porter said that although Molina was wearing a helmet he suffered severe trauma to his head.

Okay, I'm here to tell you, as one that lost many friends and acquaintances to motorcyclist accidents during my youth (60/s-70/s-80/s) that wearing a helmet didn't always save the life or change the truth of the scenario. And, quite often, SLOW doesn't mean jack squat!!!!!!! (We won't even talk about all the lives lost due to AUTO accidents, at this moment....and that number is BIG!!!!) You can crack your skull tripping on a rock as you take out your trash!!! Every incident and accident carries its on set of parables and facts and factors, and they don't outline the "norm", so to speak, in reality.

WEARING A HELMET, AND OTHER SAFETY GEAR COULD HAVE PREVENTED DEATH. ESPECILLY DRIVING SLOW AND TAKING PRECAUTIONS.
