SAN ANTONIO--Candi Rodriguez said she's outraged after what happened to her six-year-old daughter at Riverside Park Academy elementary school.
"It was the worst feeling ever, " replied Rodriguez.
Rodriguez told News 4 WOAI her daughter had just been released from school when she was walking home with her older sister. "She had a seizure and she fell in front of the school, " Rodriguez went on to say. The incident occurred back on January 25th.
After the fall the child was taken to the nurse's office. "All that was done was she got wiped with some paper towels, the baby sitter was called and she was sent on her way, " replied Rodriguez.
Rodriguez said she was never notified about her daughters injuries. The injuries were so severe Rodriguez had to rush her daughter to the emergency room. "What were they thinking sending her home?, " added Rodriguez. Rodriguez said to make matter worse her daughter is developmentally disabled and has trouble speaking.
"Unfortunately protocol was not followed, the parent should have been notified, " replied San Antonio ISD spokesperson Leslie Price.
Price went on to say school staff has been reminded on what they are supposed to do in these situations.
Rodriguez said that doesn't make things any better, " I would never wish this on any parent at all, " added Rodriguez.
Rodriguez has removed her child from Riverside Park Academy, and she's also filed a report with Child Protective Services.
