SAN ANTONIO -- Police arrested two people early Tuesday morning in connection with the beating of a 4-year-old girl.

The child was taken to Christus Santa Rosa hospital with head trauma. She had to be airlifted to University Hospital where she was set to have surgery.

The child's mother, 20-year-old Melanie Garcia, and Garcia's boyfriend, 23-year-old Matthew Carrillo, were arrested. Police say the couple claimed the little girl had fallen out of a wagon.

Garcia and Carillo were both charged with Injury to a Child. Their bonds were set at $200,000.00 each.

its that mother of that child. matthew lived in a house that had no water never any food. so why would melanie take her children just to go live with her boyfriend and put her kids in that type of enviorment. matthew was a good guy , shes lucky he even took her in to stay i dont know why she wasnt living at her mothers just like when CPS went to go investigate her and her mother obviously she was suppose to be there with her children. i do not believe mathew would touch those kids like that , those arent even his kids! that chick is soo irresponsible , she takes perscribed meds , shes crazy! i feel so sorry for matthew and kayla. RIP Kayla and matthew i hope the real story comes out! he should have never got with melanie , now shes trying to hold him responsible so she can save her own self!!! >:I

If the child dies, they should both get the needle.....since Sparky isn't available. If the child survives, they should still get the same. Pray that the child survives and FULLY recovers.

@Dollar & gyp-whatever: Try becoming somewhat educated before you bash education. Dollar, your mind-dump rant was so incomprehensible, either you were stoned when you wrote it, or your brains are already mush and not worthy of reading anyway. And gyp-whatever: "abstanance"?? C'mon - don't you see that red squiggly line under the word? WOAI even has a built-in spell checker; use it. Good grief, people.

Yes, "God" bless and heal that baby girl...because clearly he was not on-duty when it happened. Or maybe it is just his perfect plan for her life.

Summer in San Antonio equals the dead and beaten baby parade. With Rick Perry pulling Planned Parenthood Funding and the proliferation of abstanance only education...take a bow Rick Perry.

The only way I'd hit that, is with a 2x4. Looks like a Meth Monster to me.
