SAN ANTONIO -- A man was shot by Bexar County Sheriff's officers during a standoff in Southeast Bexar County.

The Bexar County Sheriff's Office said a man called 911 around 4:45 a.m. Friday threatening to shoot any officers who showed up at his home in the 6200 block of West Laguna. When officers arrived, they learned the man had a gun and two female family members with him inside the home.

The man let the two females leave, but remained inside the home and refused to surrender. A short time later, he came out of the home wielding a gun and was shot multiple times by officers.

The man was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC).

Really the family wants to blame the cops for shooting him when he came out and waved a gun at them while shouting that he was going to kill them. They owe those officers an apology if they want to blame someone why not start with themselves for leaving a weapon unsecured while knowing that he was unstable. They acted appropriately and the shooting was justified given the circumstances. Next time try get the person some mental health help before the situation explodes instead of playing the blame game after it all goes to pot.

So glad this nut wasn't killed outright. Cops don't deserve that, even if the guy was a loon. Perhaps he can get help while he's locked up, after the hospital.

“Suicide by cop” is a horrible thing for someone to do to themselves and others. What a sad ending to a life.
