SAN ANTONIO - A man died after a freight trailer fell on top of him at an East Side freight yard Tuesday.

Emergency crews were called to the 1100 block of AT&T Center Parkway around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Police say the man was welding the legs of the truck underneath the trailer, which was loaded with 40,000 pounds of paper.

An officer told News 4 WOAI the jacks holding the trailer up gave way from the pressure and the trailer fell, trapping the 45-year-old man underneath it.

A San Antonio Fire Department spokesman told News 4 that the victim's coworkers used forklifts to lift the trailer off of the man and CPR was administered but the man died at the scene.

Looks to me like a major OSHA violation here. Go get el Martillo Tejano lawyer or Wayne Wright. This company's financial life's over.

It is extremely unfortunate that news reporters do not obtain the facts behind an incident before they publish a story. Publishing a minuscule portion of a story creates panic and rumors. Think about what your inadequate story may do to this man's family and the families of the other employees that work at the facility.
