SAN ANTONIO- The family of a 16-year-old boy is mourning his death after he was run over by a man police said was drinking and driving.
Joshua Tegal was walking with a friend Saturday night along Gibbs-Sprawl road near Rittiman on the Northeast side when he was hit. He was later pronounced dead at San Antonio Medical Center.
The victim's father said it's hard enough to deal with his son's loss. But knowing police believe 39- year old Royce Alvin Willis was drinking and driving when he hit Joshua makes it difficult to understand why Willis is only charged with DWI.
“He hasn't been charged with vehicular manslaughter which is what I believe he should be charged with because he took our sons life, 16-year old boy,” explained Jerry Tegal, the victim’s father.
Jerry was told the charges will not be upgraded because Joshua was walking in the middle of the road.
Funeral services are being planned. A fund to help pay for the expenses has been set up at USAA. You can go to any location to help out the Tegal family.
