SAN ANTONIO -- A man is facing weapons and drug charges after police conducted a drug bust on the South Side.

Officers raided a home on Stonewall, near Southcross, around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday. They found 18 assault rifles and heroin inside the house.

Julio Cesar Campos was arrested at the home. Investigators say the 36-year-old is from Mexico and may be working with the cartel. The guns were reportedly headed for Mexico.

Officers said the bust is part of a larger operation.

Taurus, I'm curious, you seem to take pot shots at the DEA and now ATF. Is this because of the usual professional competition between local, State, and Federal law enforcement? As I'm sure you would agree with, there always have been enough cases to go around for everyone and always will be. Sometimes this professional jealousy impedes good cases being worked toward a successful conclusion.

Hats off to SAPD! Good job in keeping those weapons out of the hands of criminals. Even ATF got a bone thrown to them out of the arrest.

Girls...come on...calm down. This is a independent entrepenour, and has nothing to do with "Fast and Furious". He's just a little part of a larger operation that could be dubbed "Slow and Tranquil". Hundreds of drug cartel affiliates (WOAI doesn't say which cartel this guy belong to, only says "work for THE cartel") take relatively small shipments of guns and ammunition to the murderous gangs south of the border, which are very hard to track or interdict. It's called ANT SMUGGLING. NOW, ABOUT THE CORRUPT ADMINISTRATION....SOMEONE IS CONFUSING THE TERMS "CORRUPT" AND "INEPT". BY THE WAY, THE ZETAS TOP LEADER, lAZCANO lAZCANO, WAS KILLED YESTERDAY IN COAHUILA STATE BY THE MEXICAN MARINOS.
