LACOSTE, Texas--A homicide investigation is underway in the small town of LaCoste, just west of San Antonio.
The city of LaCoste is being assisted by the Medina County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Rangers in this investigation.
Investigators said it was just after midnight when 29-year-old Timothy Gorske was shot to death as he tried to make his way into a neighborhood home.
City Administrator George Salzman told News 4 WOAI the last time a city had a homicide was back in 1974.
"One of the concerns going around the neighborhood was there was a home invasion, that someone was just picking on a selected home and doing a home invasion, it wasn't, they had some contact and knowledge of each other, " said Salzman.
Salzman said Gorske went to a home off the 15-hundred block of Uvalde street, but he wasn't welcomed in.
"From what we understand he was trying to talk to someone inside the door, " Salzman went on to say.
Even though Gorske knew the people inside the home Salzman said was being rented out; we don't know why he showed up there. "All of the details are still sketchy at this point, " added Salzman.
Salzman went on to say Gorske who is from Castroville was shot multiple times and died of his injuries in a neighboring yard.
"It's sad that it did happen, but no place is immune to anything, " said resident Juan Garcia.
No arrests have been made in this case. Two people were taken in for questioning.
