Sorry JJTX99, I respectfully disregard your comment. I do not want to go to any type of call where my cover officer has not had the same training I have. I'm just not willing to risk my life or yours. We all enforce the same laws, true, but when the heat is on, I want to know that my fellow officer was held to the same standard I was. If I am wrong, then why are the officers from other departments trying to get on with the SAPD if not to better themselves? You yourself said it best. "It shall be learned". Correct, at the SAPD training Academy. I only stick around here to see what CarmenArocha will say next.

SAPD is not the fine department it once was. Ever sense the guy with the funny hat came, the "If I break a law to arrest you I will" philosophy has taken hold downtown..

Deepcscott - Negative. They wont do laterals because " that's the way its always been done ". SAPD enforces the same laws that every other agency enforces. Theres no different " way to do it ". And if there are procedural differences, then it shal be learned. SAPD would do WELL to hire experienced officers who do not need a police academy. But, it's simply that they " don't do it that way ". Their loss.

I'd love to join the force just to have police sirens in my apartment being fed through my Motörhead's stage type speakers at full volume as they overload.

"And he cried mightily, with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird."-Revelation 18:2. When San Antonio was a godly city, the most important reference for becoming a police officer or a deputy was the name of your pastor. In those days, our police officers were all god fearing Christians to a man and there were no women. Being a policeman is a job for righteous and upright men. However, in the days since the city has fallen to the Devil's people, Christians are no longer welcome. The chief requirement now is that there are none. Christians must redouble their efforts and if necessary, we must bring in reinforcements from Waco or Fort Worth, that we may drive the unsaved from the city. We should save those we can and make the rest go to Louisiana or possibly to New Jersey or some similar place.

SAPD will not do lateral transfers, because they want the officers in SAPD all trained the same way at what has become a premier training facility. If you wish to become an SAPD officer, go to the SAPD academy. Nothing is stopping officers from other departments from joining, except laziness. There is no easy way in getting in.

"""He said they are not looking for "perfect people" and are just looking for "honest people."" .....Hardly. If that was the case, they would do lateral transfers and not D.Q. applicants for dismissed internal acusations by other departments.
