SAN ANTONIO -- The gruesome murder of a 3-week-old baby in San Antonio has shocked the city abnd the rest of the country.

The baby, 3-week-old Scotty Sanchez Buchholz, was found dead Sunday inside a home on Wayside Drive on the Northwest Side.

The baby's mother, 33-year-old Otty Sanchez, is in stable condition at University Hospital. Police say Sanchez decapitated her newborn son and then stabbed herself Sunday. She has been charged with murder and is under constant watch by Bexar County Sheriff's deputies.

Police say Sanchez's sister called 9-1-1 around 5 a.m. Sunday, pleading for help. When officers arrived, Otty Sanchez confessed to the murder.

According to investigators, Sanchez used a kitchen knife and two swords to kill her baby.

At the time of the murder, two other young children and Sanchez's mother and sister were inside the home on Wayside Drive. They were not harmed.

Mom reported missing in 2008

News 4 WOAI uncovered a missing person's report for Otty Sanchez from May of 2008.

Sanchez's mother filed the report and was worried her daughter was into drugs.

San Antonio Police Chief Bill McManus said he is not sure what would make a parent do such a horrible thing, but he hopes an evaluation of her mental stability will shed some light on the murder.

Baby's father devastated

The baby's father, Scott Wesley Buchholz, was devastated and remains in shock following the gruesome murder of his son.

News 4 WOAI spoke to Buchholz's mother about what happened in the days leading up to "Scotty's" death. She said what happened to her grandson is just too much to deal with right now. and her family is struggling to get over their anger.

The grandmother, who did not want to appear on camera, said Otty Sanchez moved into her mother's house on Wayside with the baby last Monday. She explained that her son Scott and Sanchez were having some relationship problems, but added that they were working on getting back together.

According to the grandmother, her son and the rest of her family saw no warning signs that Scotty was in danger.

She said her family loved Otty Sanchez, and that the baby was his father's world. Relatives said the father is completely overwhelmed, and they are now trying to convince the boy's father to talk to a counselor.

This evil monster needs to DIE!!! This is one of the most sickening stories I've ever heard. That poor innocent little baby. There are no words to describe such pure, unadulterated EVIL. My prayers go out to the family and may that beautiful little boy rest in peace.

I really didn't believe in the death penalty until NOW! She needs to pay for this with the ultimate price...And I know Jesus forgives everyone but I really hope he lets her fry in HELL!!!
