Lindsey Wilcox of KXAS for NBC News Channel:

KELLER, Texas -- Goodwill is opening up a high dollar boutique in Texas.

The "GW Boutique” will open soon in Keller, Texas. It's a far cry from the traditional Goodwill retail store.

The idea behind the boutique is to attract customers looking for designer clothes at discount prices. Goodwill says the prices will be slightly higher than those at a typical goodwill store, but that's because of the higher quality of the merchandise.

"It's amazing what people donate to goodwill in support of our cause and those same designers you see on the runways in New York and Milan, you're going to be able to find them here," said Goodwill Senior Vice President David Cox.

Goodwill Boutiques are also located in San Francisco, Cincinatti, Portland, Baltimore, Palm Beach and Milwaukee.

$80G a year?! wtf... lets boycott goodwill...

I do not donate anything to Goodwill, I work at a business where I see credit reports and I came across a credit app from a manager that works at a Goodwill store and that persons salary was $80G a year. In my opinion, I do not believe that someone who works for a non-profit agency needs to make that kind of salary, where most of their profit is made from selling clothes (for ridiculousy high prices) that are donated to them by unknowing persons. I donate my clothes, household items, to the Ronald Mcdonald shelter or the Battered womens shelter.

donate your used clothes to a shelter, or some other non-profit organization that won't sell them, rather give it to those who need it directly. i donated 3 huge boxes to the girl's juvenile correction facility around christmastime where the clothes were given out to those who had nothing but the shirt on their back..at no cost to them. :)

Also, in case no one has noticed, when you drop something off at these stores, the employees go thru everything and take the good stuff and the junk is the only thing put out for sale. I quit donating to Goodwill when I saw the employees doing this. I'm sure if you check with your church, they will pass your donated items on to the needy. CBC has a big donation box for just this reason. ALL donated items are given to the homeless and needy families.

it's just greed. they've spent millions of dollars to remodel their stores and they are passing the cost to us. Texas thrift and family thrift stores have great merchandise for very low cost

I used to donate my daughters old clothes to them but one day I looked at the prices and changed my mind....Wal-mart is cheaper. Alot of the clothes I donate are name brand but I dont want them to up the price because of it. I would much rather give them directly to someone I know who needs them or take them to a resale shop and get some money for them.

I remember when you would be able to find a good bargain or an over looked treasure. Whats the point of shopping there if they keep picking out the good and jacking up the price on junk. Besides, the stores always smell bad.

Stupid... How much $$$$ are they spending on these stores.... Funnel it back into the "jobs" program....

Goodwill is terrible. You can get new t-shirts at Walmart for the same price or slightly more.

I find this sad that now you basically you have good will the poor store and god will the not so poor store. It looks like people in need will have to really shop around for a bargain like going to the flea markets and garage sales or in the adds. Next you will see the city charging homeless people rent for living under bridges. Everyone should have the same access and right to low prices to things that are donated period. What the hell in the world is going on.
