all of you but trucker john is very confused. first if you think trucks aren't allowed in the left lane your wrong. according to the head of txdot they ddid not have enough room on the signs that say no" trucks in left lane" to include the words "except to pass" on the sign. his reasoning for not making the signs bigger was at those speeds people couldn't read that many words. i carry a copy of that newspaper article as well as a copy of the law that says the state of texas MAY NOT restrict any class of vehicle from using the left hand lane for passing. this is also the general rule to follow for all traffic though few other then our nations truck drivers follow it. (and a few of them don't) those trucks are indirectly responsible for EVERYTHING the rest of you do so maybe you should give them a little more respect. just one small example of that. i haul fuel. if the guys that do what i do shut down the rest of you go nowhere.not to work, not to the store (not that there would be anything there anyway since the trucks can't get fuel to make those deliveries) you won't be geting on a plane, (though in recent years they have run a small pipeline from koch (flint hills) to the airport so there would still be a small amount of jetfuel being moved) you won't be able to call an ambulance to get your loved one to hospital after a heartattack, no police service, no firetruck service, as you can see almost every aspect of you life is controled by just what i do in the trucking industry. then ther's the other services you lose electrity because the employees at cps can't get to work because they have no gas. you see without the truckdriver your whole world falls apart with the exception of the guy that lives on the farm and is 100% self contained. and that doesn't apply to many of us. so A LITTLE MORE RESPECT PLEASE

pato58, i hope the way you spell also doesn't show in your driving. I hate to break it to you, but i see alot of little cars causing the problem on the highway. The driver is to scared to drive, or has that " i can drive as slow as i want" attitude, also how about just pick a speed and stick with it, nothing worse than when i small car drives by you, and then all of a sudden they speed up only to be right behind or beside them again. People, driving is not a game, people need to stop driving with that attitude and maybe we wouldn't have these wrecks. As for the this driver, he had a blow out which was out of his control.

mebusbee, How long has it been since you have been since you drive on I35 N/S. There are "NO" special lines for BIGrigs. They can use any lane except the left lane which "A PASSING LANE ONLY." That means "STAY OFF THIS LANE UNLESS YOU NEED TO PASS." the left lane is not for small cars. Satistics my show that most BIGrig are causd by small cars but lets no blame small car owner. Theb blame lies on many BIGrig drivers who do not obey the law. I would say 9 out off 10 ar going faster th the speed limits allow.I was on I35N two weeks ago and followed a rig that was weaing in a out of traffic. The driver ("a professional you say")would go from the center lane to the left lane back to the center then t the left lane ( no trucks allowed/for passing only) for miles. When I passed him I honked my horns and motioned to him to get out of the left lane and pointed to hie the sign hat read "NO TRUCKS ALLOWED". I drove ahead of him and left him about half a mile behind nd kept watching him o my rear view. hen I noticed the rig aproching me at about 85 miles per hour in the same lane I was in and when he was tail gating me I speed up to to 80 and then he tried to pass me on thr NO TRUCKS ALLOWED lane I singled to change lanes and cut him off. I rolled down my window and again motioned to him to get off this lane and then I moved back out of the fast laneand he passed me up. I was going 70 miles MPH and he left me behind as if I was standing still. I travel IH 35 37/281 from Corpus Chisti and McAllen. I travel IH10, 410 and Loop 1604 all the time and 10 of 10 rigs are going faster then speed limit.

Technically, there are special lanes for big trucks. They are only allowed to use the right 2 lanes. The left "fast" lane is for small cars only. So where else would you like them to go? In actual reality, in the olden days, highways were built for big trucks, not small cars. So, small cars are actual infringing on their territory. This accident, was purely an "accident". You can't help a blow-out, they happen to everybody. But, if you look at statistics, the percentage of big truck accidents that occur are mainly caused by small cars. So, do we really want to start pointing fingers at the guys/women who provide us with all our necessities? Driving is actually their profession, they are required to meet rigorous standards and if the regular "joe" was required to meet those, well then, we probably wouldn't have any traffic on the road due to the fact that half of the population wouldn't be able to pass these standards.

We need to have special lanes for trucks on I-35...there are too many trucks and they are all dangerous.
