SAN ANTONIO--Nicolae Petra said when he went to go visit his son in prison in Beeville last week he knew something was wrong. "He didn't say anything he was scarred to death, " replied Petra.
Petra's 24-year-old son was incarcerated at the Garza West unit in Beeville. Petra went on to say through a prison glass his son began to cry. "I asked him if they abused him sexually, and he said yes, " Petra added.
Petra alleges his son was sexually assaulted by several inmates inside the prison. Petra's son is currently serving a sentence for failing to stop and render aid, he's up for parole in January.
"He told me I'm scared to death, take me please , " added Petra.
According to a Texas Department of Criminal Justice spokesperson, Petra's son has not come forward and made any sexual assault allegations with the TDCJ.
The TDCJ does acknowledge Petra's son was moved to another prison back on Wednesday, a psychiatric prison in Fort Bend.
The Obama Administration just recently ordered federal, state, and local officials to adopt a zero tolerance for prison rape. The policy includes mandatory screening, enforcement, and prevention regulations.
