FRIDAY: Here's What I'm Tracking: Not done with the rain just yet What's Happening: An area of t'storms that developed in north Texas last night took on a life of it's own and blossomed into quite a storm system today as it continued to move south and east. We received 2.22" of rain as of 4:30pm and there's still some rain around parts of the city. For the most part rain will taper off and end early tonight but there's still the chance of a couple of scattered showers/t'storms at any time overnight. We have a better chance for showers/t'storms later tomorrow due to the combination of instability, a lot of moisture from today's rain, and daytime heating. Drier, more stable air will get us better Memorial Day weekend weather for Sunday and Monday. Highs over the entire weekend will range from the mid 80s to the lower 90s so it won't be especially hot but the humidity will make it feel rather sticky. Forecast: Tonight: A few more scattered showers/t'storms possible. Low: 70 Wind: SE 10-15+ Tomorrow: Partly sunny, 40% chance of showers/t'storms. High: 86 Wind: SE 10-15+ Sunday-Monday: Partly sunny, warm and humid. Lows: Lower 70s Highs: Near 90 Winds: SSE 10-15+

THURSDAY: Here's What I'm Tracking: Slight t'storm chances to kick off the holiday weekend What's Happening: High pressure usually means fair weather but in this particular case it won't be enough to completely erase any rain chances the next couple of days. This area of high pressure is sitting just to our south and east and is allowing a steady flow of high humidity to move in from the Gulf of Mexico making these warm late-spring temperatures feel even warmer. A series of weak upper-level disturbances over Mexico and New Mexico are moving east and in most cases would get swallowed up by high pressure but t'storms that have occurred to our west today might be strong enough to hold together and move east toward San Antonio tomorrow and Saturday. It looks like whatever heads our way will be weakening by the time it gets here but the bottom line is that the holiday weekend might begin a bit unsettled. Eventually this big high pressure system will win out and partly to mostly sunny skies are likely for Sunday and Memorial Day Monday. Forecast: Tonight: Mostly cloudy, warm and muggy. Low: 74 Wind: ESE 10-15 Tomorrow: Partly sunny, 20% chance of afternoon showers. High: 93 Wind: SE 5-15 Saturday: 30% chance of scattered showers/t'storms. WEDNESDAY; What We're Tracking: Warm and humid, little if any rain in sight What's Happening: High pressure has settled in across the southeastern U.S. and this will pump in a southeasterly flow of warm, humid air directly from the Gulf of Mexico the next several days. There are several small little disturbances that will try to move through the area from the west and try to get us a few showers tomorrow, Friday, and over the holiday weekend but this high pressure system should be strong enough and close enough to us to knock those rain chances down to less than 10% on any given day. Otherwise, it looks like a seasonably warm but very humid pattern that will carry us into the 3-day weekend and beyond with our next "best" chance of any rain getting in here toward the second half of next week. Forecast: Tonight: Very mild, increasing clouds later. Low: 72 Wind: SE 5-10 Tomorrow: Becoming partly to mostly sunny. High: 91 Wind: SE 5-15 Holiday Weekend: Clouds and sun, breezy and warm. THURSDAY: UPDATE; What We're Tracking: The heat is on, possible record highs! What's Happening: We're in for several in for several days of mid-90 degree heat making it the hottest stretch of weather we've seen so far this season. The record high for tomorrow in San Antonio is 97 degrees, certainly within reach. The record high for Del Rio is 101, that record should be smashed! There's no rain in sight through the next 5-7 days but the way this spring has been so far that could change from day to day but right now it appears plain old hot and humid weather will be the rule through the weekend. The jet stream will sag a little farther south again by early next week but with no storms out there headed this way it'll just bring in some clouds and a slight drop-off in our temperatures through midweek. The jet stream will move back north again later next week leaving us with what appears to be a hot Memorial Day weekend next weekend but I'll have more in the days ahead. In the meantime, slap on the sunscreen if you're going to be outdoors, and stay hydrated! And remember, the worst is yet to come, this is only May!!!! Here's more information from the Herald Sun (newspaper I assume?) PEOPLE have been killed by "grapefruit"-size hailstones as a tornado brings down buildings in Texas. Kathy Jividen, a spokeswoman for Hood County, Texas, sheriff's office said there were "multiple fatalities" in the wake of the storm, CNN reported. Hood County Judge Darrell Cockerham said there were reports of homes being flattened with people inside. As many as 100 people have been injured by the twisters in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, said MedStar Mobile Healthcare spokesman Matt Zavadsky. Twisters reportedly touched down in the Texas counties of Tarrant, Hood, Dallas and Parker, Fox8 reported. Hood County Sheriff Roger Deeds said there have been "bad injuries … with people losing limbs." City officials were sending school buses to affected neighborhoods to help with evacuations.

WEDNESDAY: Here's What I'm Tracking: Possible early nighttime t'storms, then clearing What's Happening: While most of the threat for thunderstorms has passed there is still the possibility for some quick pop-up t'storms due to moisture and daytime heating. Keep an eye to the sky and stay tuned for any weather updates that might be coming early tonight because things could change quickly and you might get trapped underneath one of those widely scattered t'storms. Other than that it looks like smooth sailing from tomorrow through the weekend but it'll become hotter with highs in the 90s for the first time in several weeks. The Western Zone will see highs over 100 degrees tomorrow and Friday! A system scooting to our north around Sunday might clip the Hill Country Zone with a few t'storms but right now it looks like a dry weekend for everybody else.
