SAN ANTONIO -- A man is lucky to be alive after a tree fell on the van he was driving Friday morning.

The accident happened around 7:00 a.m. Friday in the 1200 block of West Russell Place. The man was driving a Star Shuttle van along Russell Place when a 30 to 40 foot tree fell onto the front of the bus. The driver narrowly missed being impaled by a piece of the tree when it crashed into the van.

The street was closed while crews cleared the tree from the street.
