Driver charged after teen struck and killed

SAN ANTONIO -- A driver faces intoxication manslaughter charges following a deadly hit and run accident on the West Side.

Investigators say 17-year-old Nathan Chavez was walking on the sidewalk along the 3100 block of Culebra around 11:30 p.m. Friday, when a 1996 Chevrolet Astro van traveling eastbound veered to the right, jumped the curb, and hit him.

Police say the driver of the van, 42-year-old John Guadalupe Ramirez, then fled the scene of the accident, leaving Chavez in the street. Ramirez was caught a short time later and arrested.

Chavez was taken to University Hospital but later died.

ustillnvme, its not a race thing, its an idiot thing. You should know, you sure sound like a bona fide idiot. Anyways, i just love how these low lifes dont have money to pay their bills or cant get by without govt assistance, but they somehow have the money to go to bars and get drunk.

Let me guess: with the incompetent jury selection we have in SA that fail to hand down stiff sentences, this idiot will get off on probation just like the Jacob Perez dude that killed one and injured 4 others. Is that right on the money or, can we expect different! Prayers to the family on their loss.
