GONZALES, Texas - News 4 WOAI was contacted by the town of Gonzales when a disabled man's dog was stolen while he shopped.

Police in Gonzales say the pug has become somewhat of an icon in the city. The dog's name Butterfly was stolen outside the HEB in Gonzales. Surveillance video outside the Gonzales HEB confirms a middle-aged white couple took Butterfly while she waited outside for her owner.

We're told the owner has left Butterfly outside the store hundreds of times without any problems.

There is a reward for Butterfly's safe return. If you know anything about Butterfly, call the Gonzales Police Department at 830-672-8686.

I agree, Jackhammer is defiantly not the Jack I was thinking while reading his/her thoughtless, idiotic and hateful comment. How someone could have so little compassion for another individual baffles me. People such as "Jack" explain part of the "wrong" in this world. Let's just hope this person didn't reproduce and be able to raise a child to be as stupid and careless of others feelings as he/she is. To Butterfly and Ernest I pray that you are reunited soon.

Hey, Jack.....the last half of your name isn't right. I can think of a MUCH better and more applicable 3 letter last half to your moniker!!! You're man and cruel. The dog is the man's best friend and companion, and this has been their routine for years. Unfortunately, some well meaning couple (I'm supposing from the article)figured that Butterfly was homeless and decided to be good samaritans. At least, that's what I'm hoping and that by now the error has been corrected and Butterfly is back with her best buddy. Dog owners take their dogs with them because the dogs enjoy the trek and the owners enjoy the company of the one(s) that give them unconditional love and companionship without criticism and need no fanfare.

I think he got what he deserved!! I HATE HATE people that feel the need to take their dog everywhere they go. See if you would have left him at home this would NOT have happened. Lesson learned. Can someone asmswer me why you(dog owners) feel the need to take they everywhere?

"The dog's name Butterfly was stolen outside the HEB in Gonzales." Where to begin with the corrections??? Not to mention the title: Disabled man has dog stolen...sounds lke he had it arranged or something. But on another note, I hope the dog is returned to the owner. It's a shame that it happened.

From one pug owner to another, I hope that you find your precious Butterfly.
