San Antonio -- It was a night club with a long history of violence. But now a final measure ensures history will not repeat itself.

There will be no more crime reported from Club Antro because Club Antro is no more. The owners have bowed to legal pressure and closed down for good.

News 4 WOAI Trouble Shooters Mireya Villarreal began investigating the medical center bar in July 2010 after neighbors asked for our help with the rowdy establishment. A month later (August 2010) the city filed a lawsuit but lost the fight last September.

Since 2001 police had responded to the bar more than 1500 times. They had 46 TABC violations on the books, ten code compliance citations and one lawsuit. In the end, it just took a lot of time and evidence to shut this place down.

Murders, shootings, fights and riots - Uou name it and it probably happened at Club Antro. Even though there was a pending lawsuit against the bar they were allowed to stay open.

The owners changed the bar's name to Silk Ultra Lounge in October 2010 and promised to clean up their act. But neighbors told us they had the same rowdy crowd coming in causing the same kinds of problems.

That's why the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) continued to investigate and build a case against the club.

"As time went on there were other allegations that we became aware of and investigated and pursued administrative action on them as well,” Lt. Craig Smith, TABC Spokesperson, told us.

Owners of the club were cited five times from February through November 2011. They were facing big fines and another temporary suspension. TABC had even set a hearing for January 26, last week, to try and get a judge to finally cancel their liquor license.

But before that could happen the club's owners waived the white flag.

"The permit has been canceled. It was an agreement between our legal division and them,” Smith noted.

So, after ten years of being in business, ten years of crime and drama, the club agreed to close its doors.

We did reach out to the club's owners and attorney, but no one returned our calls. Between legal fees and possible fines, you could probably say the city and TABC just wore them down.

Just wait. In 6 months this place will be back opened with "new owners" and a new name. Then you can start all over and spend the next 10 years trying to close it down.

nice now the punks and scanks will have to pick another playground hopefully north of 410 leave the old schoolers alone. No police or reports you just disappear. Which is probably the reason they were hanging out north. Yep as someone else stated now they get to invade and ruin someplace else.

The only problem now is that these same rowdy people will just go somewhere else and ruin that spot. Should have left it open so all the lowlifes can go hangout there and hopefully slowly but surely killing themselves.

Now if they could only close down the city council and reopen with a council that actually listens to the SA citizen.

I remember when this place played dance music and pop en Espanol...those were good times. Sad to see this place closed down based on it's good ole days in 2003/2004, but the minute you start letting garbage into your club, the minute you have problems. And let's applaud BA's "Internet Ministry" (whatever THAT is!) spearheading this effort by being the singlehanded reason this club was shut down. ...LOL...because the crime rate had NOTHING to do with it. Bravo, bravo!

I have been demanding for years, through our internet Ministry, that the authorities close this place down. I am glad that it has finally come to pass, but I still can't understand why it took so long. We Christians have been trying to get all those saloons closed down ever since they opened up. If it takes this long to close one, it will take forever to close them all down. We must move faster. The Sheriff should be bid to close these places down at once, that the city may become more ammenable to Christian folk. We stand at a precarious moment. This city could easily slide into the camp of the Devil and be scourged by the Lord as a result. It is our duty to make a stand for righteous living, as the Lord requires us to do. I urge all Christians to join me next week in the office of the Sheriff, there to remind him that his predecessor, who is also a Democrat, is in jail for his crimes and urge him to come to Jesus and help us, so as to avoid a similar fate.

Place has been a problem since they opened and should have been closed years ago. Now when they close Graham Central they'll be making progress.
