CONVERSE -- Police conducting a welfare check stumbled across an apparent murder-suicide.  Officers tell us they smelled a strong odor when they approached the home in the 8900 block of Slumber St. just before 8 P.M. Saturday.

After forcing their way into the home, Police tell us they found the decomposing bodies of two people.  They say it appears a woman stabbed a man to death and then hanged herself.

According to the Converse Police Department, the deceased persons had been dead for approximately two weeks.

The names of the victims are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

This is so sad. Plus, why do they say the names of the victims are being withheld pending notification of next of kin and then show their address on TV, 8910 Slumber St.? What, they want people to think…that’s a nice truck they got there. Well, their not going to need it? That’s just wrong. News reporters, next time don’t release addresses!

infofreak - if she stabbed her husband to death, would she then stab herself to death? if she doesn't own a firearm, how else will she commit suicide?

It doesn't make sense. I'm not an expert, but usually a murder-suicides typically have the same method of death. I hope a thurough investigation is completed before closing the book on this incident. My thoughts are with the family.

How terribly sad that they didn't have family members that checked in with them regularly. Not that that would have made a difference but two weeks, my goodness!
