SAN ANTONIO - Troubles are mounting for Precinct 3 Constable Mark Vojvodich. First it was missing money and drugs from his office. Now more than a quarter-million dollars in past-due taxes have come to light.

According to public records, Vojvodich owes $277,000 in back taxes.

Much of that money is owed to the Internal Revenue Service for unemployment taxes, trust fund, and personal income taxes. The IRS has slapped liens on Vojvodich in an attempt to collect the money.

The constable is also listed on an Oklahoma website as one of the state's top tax delinquents. He owes the Sooner state more than $103,058 in back taxes relating to a business he operated there called Valley Forge Security Services.

“This is a personal matter between me and the IRS," said Vojvodich during a phone interview. He declined to give any further explanation.

The tax problems surfaced just after an audit was leaked revealing more than $10,000 and drugs were stolen from the constable's safe. Texas Rangers have opened a criminal investigation.

Vojvodich, elected in 2009, is facing Bexar County Sheriff’s Department Detective Lou Antu in the Republican primary May 29. Antu declined to comment about his opponent's tax troubles.

Maybe he's paying his taxes with the $10000.00, and selling the drugs to make up the rest.

I think there are some integrity issues here. Especially as a law enforcement officer. Malfeasance could also come into play if all of the allegations are true.
