SAN ANTONIO - The News 4 WOAI Trouble Shooters have confirmed SAPD Det. Michael Tucker passed away from a heart problem over the weekend. Tucker was assigned to the Wrecker Unit where he was the department's point-man on towing issues for many years.

Tucker was set to testify in the trial between the city and Bexar Towing which was scheduled for Tuesday, November 27th, in municipal court.  The trial date was delayed late Monday.

Bexar Towing is challenging the city's towing ordinance that caps towing fees at $85, plus tax, storage and impound, for a maximum charge of $128.25.

The city attorney's office says both sides decided to delay the trial, but not because of Tucker's death.  The city says the trial will likely be re-scheduled for a date sometime in the next two weeks.

Bexar Towing wants Municipal Court Judge Robert Lipo to dismiss more than 400 tickets SAPD wrote to towing companies for over-charging under the ordinance.

The city attorney's office says while Tucker would have testified at the trial, it has actual over-charging victims who will still take the stand, as well as other officers who can testify about over-charging incidents.

If you do not park where you are not supposed to park your vehicle will not get towed. If it does then go file with the justice of the peace in your area and request a hearing. Also contact the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation and request a hearing. As far as for it shouldn't be just the rich living into their eighties, what does that have to do with this issue. By city standards this officer probably could be considered rich, as he was earning a hefty salary as a detective. I see many so called "poor" people who have the opportunity to eat far better than I because they get SNAP to pay their food bills. They have ample opportunity to purchase fresh nutritious food, but buy junk food. Many so called "poor" people also die at a young age due to their bad habits, one of the primary of those being alcohol and drug abuse. As far as being poor, there needs to be a distinction between poor, and being lazy. A poor person who is truely poor will not stay poor, they will find a way to better themself as well as their family. They will accomplish this on their own. A lazy person will sit at home and whine while expecting someone else to do the work. Lazy people are a disgrace. Poor people are up and coming. It warms my heart to help a poor person better their situation, while I have no qualms about watching a lazy person starve.

Heart problems are much more common than people want to acknowledge. That's sad he passed away relatively young. It shouldn't be just the rich who get to live into their 80s with good health.
