SAN ANTONIO - A bus driver with the North East School District is on administrative leave with pay after he allowed a nine-year-old boy to get off at the wrong stop.
According to the district, the fourth grader who goes to Wetmore Elementary fell asleep on the bus and missed his stop. When he woke up he asked the driver to let him off near an H-E-B on Thousand Oaks where his grandmother works.
The driver did just that, which is a violation of the school district's policy. He should have returned the boy to his regular stop.
NEISD is still investigating the incident and says it's reviewing what further action, if any, will be taken against the driver.
