A car wash on the South Side that the city temporarily closed is making all the right moves to reopen.

There was a public meeting Wednesday afternoon about the business. So what's the problem? A lot of people are upset about what the women working there are wearing at the car wash -- just a bikini.

"It's a distraction," said one person.

The 'Bikini' Car Wash is located on South Flores Street. Many people believe the women's outfits are too revealing, especially since the car wash is near a church and elementary school.

"It's very visible. It's open to the public," said the car wash's owner Ricardo Arsate. "They suggested a privacy fence, and I said I better not because they're going to say 'what are they hiding.' I'm not hiding anything."

Last week the city temporarily shut the car wash down, saying a drain that collects water off of the cars being washed was not properly covered.

Wednesday, Arsate was having that problem fixed and wonders what the city will come up with next to keep his hose turned off.

"They don't have any laws in place to enforce. So what are they going to base it on, I want to know, morally? Well, that's not a law," Arsate said.

"Is it illegal to wash your car with a bathing suit on? It is not illegal to wash your car with a bathing suit on, not at all," said San Antonio City Councilwoman Jennifer Ramos.

That's the problem Councilwoman Ramos is facing and what she tried to explain to everyone at Wednesday's meeting. Ramos hopes that some kind of compromise can be reached.

"Maybe it's put on some short shorts, and wear the bikini top, Maybe that's a compromise they're willing to look at," Ramos told News 4.

But under law, Arsate doesn't have to change a thing.

The new test well is in place. Once it's inspected and approved by the city, Arsate says his bikini car wash should be back up and washing by Friday.
