SAN ANTONIO -- A local Amber Alert has been issued for a baby who police say was taken by his own father.

Police say Jonathan Guillen took off with 11-month-old Jonathan Jose Guillen Jr., after Guillen killed his mother's estranged boyfriend last Thursday. The two were last seen in the 2300 block of Austin Highway.

Guillen is a 23-year-old Hispanic male who is about 5' 08" tall, weighs about 185 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a white muscle shirt and black or red shorts.

Jonathan Jose Guillen Jr. has brown hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a red-hooded sweatshirt.

The original Amber Alert issued in the case stated investigators believed Guillen might be driving a Chevy Trailblazer. However, investigators have now accounted for the vehicle and learned Guillen is no longer in the SUV.

Police said that early on in the investigation, they were led to believe Guillen was the biological father of Jonathan Guillen Jr. Investigators have since developed information that they say casts doubt on that relationship. They also now believe there may be more of a direct threat to the child's safety.

If you have any information about the whereabouts of Guillen or his son, please immediately call 911 or contact Crime Stoppers at 224-STOP (7867), submit a tip online, or text a tip by texting "Tip 127 plus your tip" to CRIMES (274637).

Callers can remain anonymous and are eligible to receive a cash reward if the information given leads to an arrest or grand jury indictment of a felony offender.

@pastorbob: he's only a child, you nutjob! if you see evil in everything, it's usually becasue you're too much in denial of your own shortcomings. stop, take a moment to look in the mirror and see your own faults, and stop searching for evil everywhere. you know what they say, seek and ye shall find

@usesomecents: Jonathan Guillen shot and killed HIS mother's estranged boyfriend, who was assaulting his mother. After the shooting, Jonathan Guillen grabbed HIS eleven month old son (Jonathan Guillen Jr.) and fled. This child WAS NOT IN THE CUSTODY OF THE MURDER VICTIM. Granted, the Amber Alert should have been issued sooner, IMO, but you seem to have some facts of this story incorrect or confused.

So, if someone murders me and takes my child the child is not in immediate danger? Yes, criteria should be met, but the guy killed someone then took off with a child that was in that person's custody. So, for four days an innocent child is with a killer and the police didn't think the child was in any danger? The car he was supposed to be driving was in the complex the whole time?? Great investigating.

I'm a little confused. If they can post up an alert over a missing elderly person who may just be disoriented or lost, why does the Amber Alert have such strict criteria? If the "lost elderly person" alert isn't an Amber Alert, then what system gets it posted? I know if one of my loved ones were missing or abducted I'd want the word to get out in the quickest fashion.

You cant issue AMBER ALERTS because a child is missing. There are specific, REQUIREMENTS for this process including specific facts that the child is in IMMINENT DANGER. All you armchair quarterbacks need to get your facts straight before you throw agencies under the bus. IF this requirement was not in place, every time someones child walked away from the house there would be an AMBER ALERT and they would be ignored by the public as " another one?? ".

That baby has a knowing and surley look to him. I believe he may have some sinister purpose.

Jonathan if our reading this..don't make things worst..I think you shouldn't have ran..I know you must be scared but I think you were defending yourself..You were in your home..It must be hard to know you will not be with your Baby but if you make it worst that will just make things worst. I don't know why people make you sound like your a danger to your baby..I honestly believe you have a big heart and that's why you tried to protect your mom and yourself. I know everyone might think otherwise until they are faced with the same situation.

Once again, four days after the child disappeared they issue an Amber Alert. By now I bettcha they are in Mexico. The alert should have been issued as soon as the child was reported missing. Poorly done!
