SAN ANTONIO - All "Sushi Zushi" restaurants in San Antonio, Austin and the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex are now closed. This after what the chain calls, “unanticipated internal reaction” to news of a routine I-9 audit.
I-9 forms are a part of the U.S. Customs and Immigration enforcement. They verify employees' paperwork to make sure they are eligible to work in the U.S. The company says, “several vital employees” chose not to report to work.
A spokesperson for "Sushi Zushi" says there was no raid at any of its locations, nor has any employee been detained. They are simply responding to an audit.
The chain says it plans to re-open its restaurants as soon as possible.
