SAN ANTONIO -- A San Antonio Independent School District bus driver is dead following an accident involving two school buses in East Bexar County.

The accident happened around 7:00 a.m. Monday in front of Wagner High School on Foster Road near Candlemeadow. Witnesses told officers the San Antonio ISD bus was traveling north on Foster Road when the driver appeared to lose control. The bus hit the median, crashed head-on into a Judson Independent School District bus traveling south on Foster Road, and then crashed into a fence of a home on the 3000 block of Foster Road.

Officials at the scene confirmed the driver of the San Antonio ISD school bus died. The driver has been identified as 63-year-old Dolores Martinez. Officials said they were checking to see if Martinez had any sort of medical condition that might have caused her to lose control of the bus.

Three other victims were taken to hospitals. According to San Antonio ISD officials, the two of the three are San Antonio ISD students. A San Antonio ISD spokesperson said the other three students on the bus were not injured. Judson ISD officials confirmed the third person transported to the hospital was the driver of the Judson ISD school bus.

At least 40 students who attend Masters Elementary were on the Judson ISD school bus. A Judson ISD spokesperson said none of them were seriously injured.
