SAN ANTONIO -- The little girl at the center of a beating investigation has died.

Kayla Garcia was taken to University Hospital with massive head injuries two days ago. She underwent surgery, but she died Wednesday evening.

The girl's mother, 20-year old Melanie Garcia, and her mother's boyfriend, 23-year-old Matthew Carrillo, were arrested on injury to a child charges. They claimed Kayla fell out of a wagon. But doctors who examined Kayla said her injuries were not consistent with that description.

Police say charges against Garcia and Carrillo could now be upgraded to capital murder.

@ gypzyjed Are you blaming Rick Perry for these 2 POS? How about close your legs or buy your own damn contraception. Why should anyone else be responsible for paying for your life choices?

I am in total aggrement, they both should have some one beat them to beath like they did the little girl. An eye for an eye. That is the only justice thats works. These two don't have a right to go on living. Please judges take action and make them the example not to hurt children.

"Colorless green ideas sleep furiously" is a sentence composed by Noam Chomsky in his 1957 Syntactic Structures as an example of a sentence that is grammatically correct (logical form) but semantically nonsensical. The term was originally used in his 1955 thesis "Logical Structures of Linguistic Theory". Although the sentence is grammatically correct, no obvious understandable meaning can be derived from it, and thus it demonstrates the distinction between syntax and semantics. As an example of a category mistake, it was used to show inadequacy of the then-popular probabilistic models of grammar, and the need for more structured models.

I'm sure it will get watered down to murder or manslaughter in a nice plea deal.

Summer begins with the Dead and Beaten baby parade in Texas, featuring "No Planned Parenthood for you" Rick Perry as the Grand Marshall. Not to worry; no one planned parenthood here, and indeed no one was any kind of parent to poor Kayla. Baby Daddy probably long gone, the mother-not ready to be one, seems didn't care to try. Hope "mother" and "boyfriend" end up like poor Kayla in prison- tortured to death.

Enough already let them have their day in court and if found guilty give them the death penalty. Send a message to people in this county " If you beat your kids we will find you and prosecute you to the full extent of the Law".

Have to agree with a lot of the comments: the mother was 15 when she got pregnant. Where were HER parents? Or were they 16 when they had her? I hope they fry these two. I don't even want to think of what that poor little girl went through before she died. Hope those POS's get the same treatment in jail.

God bless this precious little girl. It turns my stomach to think anyone could do such terrible things to an innocent child. TRULY sickening.
