VON ORMY, Texas -- A toddler was killed when his mother accidentally ran over him in the driveway of a home in Von Ormy early Wednesday.
The accident happened around 6:40 a.m. in the 18,800 block of Senior Road. Deputies say Veronica Guerrero was leaving for work when her two-year-old son, Manny Martinez, darted out in front of her truck.
"She got out of the door to unlock her front gate, and her sister was screaming she had run over the child," explained Lt. Dennis Casillas of the Bexar County Sheriff's Office
The boy had been standing in the doorway of their home with his aunt waving goodbye when he suddenly broke free and chased after his mom. He died at the scene.
Officials said it was a tragic accident and Guerrero will not face any charges.
