18-wheeler catches fire on Interstate 35

SAN ANTONIO -- An 18-wheeler caught fire in Southwest Bexar County Wednesday, prompting the southbound lanes of IH-35 to be shut down through midnight Thursday.

Emergency crews responded to a call about an big rig engulfed in flames on Interstate 35 near Loop 1604 around 11:40 a.m. Wednesday.

A Bexar County spokesperson said the Sandy Oaks HazMat team was sent to the scene after the 18-wheeler began leaking some kind of fracking material.

There were no reports of injuries or what caused the fire.
