DILLEY, Texas -- A Dilley Independent School District student was expelled after police say he brought a BB-type gun to school last Tuesday.
"It was not actually a BB gun, but it was one of those guns that shoots those plastic BB's," said Dilley Police Chief Albert DeLeon.
Chief DeLeon said the 11-year-old boy had the gun inside his backpack, but did not take it out. He told some of the other students inside the Mary Harper Middle School cafeteria that he had the weapon. Chief DeLeon said those students immediately told a teacher, the principal stepped in, and police took over.
"The juvenile was saying he had been bullied, mostly all of his life, so I think he just brought the gun to school trying to act like the big person to get the kids to stop bullying him, " said Chief DeLeon.
A school district official said no specific threats were made, and no one was injured.
The boy now faces a terroristic threat charge.
