My dog has fleas

If anything good can be said about fleas, it's that they're really good jumpers. If a six-foot tall athlete had a flea's jumping ability, he could leap the length of two football fields. That means a flea doesn't have to be lurking nearby when you take your pooch for a walk. The scent of all that delicious dog blood can attract one from pretty far away. After hitching a ride indoors, the flea can start reproducing baby fleas that grow in your carpet and furniture. Before long, you can have an infestation. Besides making your pet scratch constantly, fleas can also transmit tapeworms. And don't forget, if your dog doesn't satisfy a flea's appetite, you're next on the menu. Fortunately, complete flea control is now possible. Medications from your vet, either in pill form or liquids applied to the dog's coat, have proven to be highly effective in controlling these annoying blood-suckers.
