Grooming your cat

You should decide how much time you're willing to spend grooming your cat before you get it. Short haired cats need very little; long haired breeds need a lot to remove tangles. Start grooming a kitten as early as possible, to get it used to the idea. In time, it'll start looking forward to the brushing sessions. Picking the right grooming brush depends on the cat. For long haired cats, a 'pin-type' dog brush works well. If your cat's fur is especially silky, you might try a soft hair brush. Following up with a flea comb has obvious advantages. Short haired cats frequently benefit from an all-rubber brush sold as kitten or puppy brushes. Cats are naturally clean animals, and spend a fair amount of time grooming themselves. Don't try this. It's bad for the tongue.
