Many state workers' compensation laws provide for various benefits which generally fall into three main categories. These categories are income benefits, medical care expenses and vocational rehabilitation costs. There are numerous benefits to which you may be entitled within each category. It is important to realize that benefits differ according to the law in the state where you are employed. Income benefits may include temporary total disability, temporary partial disability and permanent partial impairment. Payment of income benefits depends on the particular condition of the injured worker. Medical care expenses may include, but are not limited to, doctor's fees, emergency care, hospital fees, diagnostic or other testing, physical therapy, and prescription medication. You may be entitled to medical expenses even if you do not receive income benefits. In some states, you may also be entitled to vocational rehabilitation benefits. It is important for you to be aware of all benefits to which you are entitled if you are injured in a work-related accident. The best way to know if you are receiving all the benefits you deserve is to contact an attorney that specializes in worker's compensation law. For more information on workers' compensation, contact a qualified attorney.
